OUR STORY
Ice-Kold is proud to be America’s largest multi-line refrigerant recovery machine repair center.
Founded in 1979 in Fredonia, Wisconsin as Mid-State Refrigeration Systems, our business started with a focus on commercial refrigeration. Known for supermarket refrigeration installation and walk-in cooler applications, Mid-State Refrigeration Systems, grew quickly. After five years of hard work, we scaled our operations and became a mechanical contracting company specializing in steam fitting, process piping, and electrical and wastewater system installation.
In early the 1990s, our company was approached by White Industries, a division of Snap-On Tools, to do authorized repair work on their refrigerant recovery tools and ensure their compliance with EPA regulations. At the same time, we were awarded the Kold-Draft ice machine distributorship for the state of Wisconsin and Michigan’s upper peninsula.
From here, Mid-States Refrigeration Systems created a new subsidiary: Ice-Kold was born.
Ice-Kold grew as an ice machine and authorized parts distributor. As the demand for our refrigerant recovery machine repairs grew exponentially, Mid-States Refrigeration Systems was eventually phased out.
By 2001 Ice-Kold had become a well-known recovery unit repair company. With authorized service agreements with most recovery unit manufacturers on top of contracted rebuild and refurbishing work for many vendors, we moved to a modern 6000 sq. ft. building in Cedarburg, Wisconsin. This move accommodated our constant growth and anticipated new services we now offer such as repairing vacuum pumps, meters, and other tools HVAC and refrigeration contractors use to make their job easier.
In 2006, Ice-Kold relocated again to Grafton, Wisconsin increasing our scope to include vehicle parts repairs alongside our refrigeration and HVAC work. As our connections with the local automotive repair shops grew, so did the demand for our expertise in automotive air conditioning.
Fast forward to today and we’ve expanded our automotive services to include key cutting, fob programming, and a mobile repair center to better serve our customers outside of our shop. We’re proud to be the Midwest’s largest recovery machine parts distributor, performing authorized repair and servicing for over 30 brands of recovery equipment across the United States.
